Welcome to the home of The Benevolent Order of the Texas Horned Toad (BOTHT), a fraternal and protective society promoting the pleasant good will that is inspired by our little mascot.

The Benevolent Order of the Texas Horned Toad consists of

·       Native (including Adopted),

·       Honorary, and

·       Displaced Texans.


The organization embraces the Texas Horned Toad (variously known as a horny toad and horned lizard) as a neighbor with a ferocious appearance and yet possessing a docile, peaceful heart. According to legend, the Texas Horned Toad symbolizes longevity, harmlessness, and minding one’s own business. Members of the society seek those same worthy attributes. As has been said by another, “Live long and prosper.” As far as it is up to you, get along with everyone despite differences; and do good in your corner of the world.

A portion of your one-time membership dues even goes to the Horned Lizard Conservation Society in their work to protect and preserve our prickly mascot.
