"...[Your] book is so full of
good information that I'll have to get another 3"x5" card for notes
of quotes, scripture and good information. [You're] nailing-my-impatience to
the wall, like [you've] been following me around. It's also very helpful for
me to be more patient with my father who is hard-of-hearing, forgetful and
like [you] said, "You have to repeat things two or three times"
(amazing insights). I'm so impressed! ******* "If anyone in the world has ever earned the right to
compose a book on patience it is Mike LeFan. This book is a tribute to the
work of God in the life of a very special human being. He was stricken with
polio at an early age and virtually paralyzed. This remarkable man has
overcome obstacles that few of us will ever know. Yet, through this refining
fire comes a loving Christian spirit that is an inspiration to thousands.
Mike is blessing us once again with this outstanding work on the elusive virtue
of patience." - ******* "Most
of us readily give lip service to the need for patience as we rush through
our lives. Michael LeFan reminds us through a wealth of scripture, stories,
illustrations, and his own personal struggles of the importance of seeking
and developing patience. There are riches here, both to motivate and inspire.
Mike is a faithful witness to the power of patience and the power of the Lord
he serves. We need to hear what he says." Synopsis of Book: Patience, My Foot!' explores Everyman's struggle for patience with self, with others, with things, and with God. Entertaining. Humorous. Bible-based. Practical & Helpful. Anger, frustration and impatience are serious problems in the home, on the job, in the community. Patience is in short supply! Numerous anecdotes and quotes enliven this book's 148 pages. The author's own difficulties in life are briefly noted--as "credentials" on the topic of patience. LeFan shows readers how to come to grips with life’s difficulties. The advice is not a collection of platitudes, rather it is nitty-gritty, how-to information. The book was literally written with the toes of LeFan’s left foot. Patience, My Foot! was a featured selection in the College Press Book Club. This book is a witness to the power of patience and the power of God. Patience, My Foot! can help all of us to become more patient with ourselves, with each other, and with life.
Author Biography: LeFan had polio as a boy and is paralyzed except for his left foot. Through the years, people have told him, "You are the most patient person I know." "However," he says, "I am just an ordinary person with an extraordinary number of opportunities to exercise patience." One day an acquaintance made that remark about LeFan being the most patient person he'd ever seen, and LeFan said to himself, "Patient, my foot"! "It dawned on me later," says LeFan, "that this person did not know the real me, or how I came to be who I am." Patience, My Foot! grew from that chance comment. The son of a retired Church of Christ minister, LeFan is a freelance author living in Temple, Texas. Diagnosed with paralytic polio with full respiratory involvement in 1954 at the age of eight, he is now a "full-time polio quad" using a respirator to breathe and a power wheelchair for mobility. With the toes of his left foot, he has written Patience, My Foot! and three other books, hundreds of magazine articles, and scores of speeches, newsletters, brochures, and other assignments for clients. Despite this dexterity, he does require assistance with most all of life’s routine. He earned a degree in English with a minor in sociology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
